Myths

Acne is not caused by dirt. The common belief that a black pimple is dirt that has been trapped in the skin is completely unrealistic. In fact it is not dirt but keratin.

Common myths say that masturbation causes acne and that acne disappears when the person has sexual contact or total abstinence.

In fact no research has supported this myth.
